Tacoma - The First School

In about 1905 a small school on the southern side of the Wyong River was established for Tacoma. They continued to use it for sixty years, until our school was built in 1968.

The girls enrolled in 1905 were : Ivy Clifford, Lily Duncan, Violet Duncan, Dorothy Denniss, Clara Clack, Melvilla Duncan, Naomi Duncan, Violet Denniss, Mary Garathy, Maggie Duncan, Lizzy Duncan, Naomi Clifford, Dorothy Hewitt, Hilda Clifford, Naomi Clifford and Maudi Johnson.

The boys were: Cornelius Clifford, Edward Clifford, Fredrick Clifford, George Duncan, Ray Clifford, Alfred Clifford, Charles Denniss, Claude Denniss, George Denniss, William Denniss, Percy Carol, Robert Duncan, Walter Denniss, James Garathy, Walter Newman, Horrace Massey, Charles Duncan and Albert Duncan.

For sports the girls wore a gold uniform with a gold girdle, gold bloomer shorts, white blouse, white socks and white sandshoes. The boys wore white shirts, white shorts with a one and a half inch gold stripe down the side, white socks and white sandshoes.
